This subject may have been covered before, I don't remember, and I know I should have used the search function. But anyway, I recently got my A. G. Russell catalog, and these were on the cover. I'm thinking about picking up one, and I was wondering if anyone else had, and if so, what are your thoughts on the performance differences between the two?

I really like Spyderco's VG-10, for a stainless steel, and I had good luck with my Dozier, which I traded off.

But in this kind of knife, what do you recommend?

I know the D2 is a little less stain resistant, but that really isn't an issue for me.

I'm considering getting the Bird and Trout for a coon skinning blade this winter...what one should i get?

I just ordered two of the A.G. Russell bird & trout knives in VG10 yesterday. I will let you know how I like them; but, so far I have yet to see a VG10 bladed knife that I dont like.

Cliff,

After reading the thread you posted the link to, I feel pretty silly. I posted to that thread. But the last 30 days have been so crazy I hardly know whether I've been coming or going.:footinmou

I would like to have one of each, but I sure like VG-10.

Coonskinner, either way you choose, you are going to have a winner in my opinion. It's a win, win situation:) Big D1
