I read a number of reviews before purchasing a D2 Deerhunter about a week ago. It arrived very promptly.
It's pretty much what I expected. The main draw for me is the thin blade. Cuts very well. However, the blade is not ground all the way to the edge, as advertised.
I like the sheath a lot. The spring-loaded device which locks the knife in place and allows for one-handed release is very innovative. I also like the shape of the handle- it has a palm swell that is comfortable to grip.
Other options for a lightweight, thin bladed knife are the Spyderco Moran and a model from Swamp Rat, also offered in D2. The Swamp Rat looks good but isn't available yet.

I just checked this :

"The blades are just thick enough to be stiff rather than flexible and are ground very thin all the way to the
edge, creating a marvelous cutting tool. "

Which is kind of misleading, it probably refers to the fact that the primary grind is cut right down to the edge, then a secondary bevel is applied. But as it is started it could readily be interpreted as a puukko-style single bevel grind.

Very nice knife, Joe Talmade basically introduced this one to the forums, it defines a standard for a light use cutting knife. On top of that it has a really cool sheath, and A.G. is a pretty nice guy.

Yep, I think this is a case of the ad copy being a bit too sloppy. It's never been a Scandanavian-style grind.

I've got 3 of them, A8,D2 and VG10, and have used them to dress a bunch of deer. Does a great job. The light weight is a plus especially after runnung the woods for a coupla weeks. bruce
