I was looking at this knife on the A.G. Russell web site and wonder if anyone has any experience with this knife and how it would stack up agains't a Dozier Buffalo hunter knife.
The Laplander is made from A2 steel so it will take a finer edge and will be tougher (more resistant to chipping) than the D2 blade of the Dozier. The Laplander also is a little narrower in the point which could be handy if you need to work on some small game. On the other hand the Dozier may hold an edge slightly longer than the Laplander and should be more rust resistant. In a moist climate the Dozier might have a distinct advantage. Both should hold an edge better than your typical production knife and look pretty classy. My only complaint is their lack of a significant finger guard. On a hunting knife I like the added security of a guard for when my hands are cold and wet with blood.
