I have two Russell Limited edition Sting Boot Knife.s. A.G. Russell designed the Sting in 1975 and started to produce them in 1977. He made two sizes, and the limited
edition were made with serial#s with a total of 500 each size. My large is number 85 and my small one does not have a number. I received a letter from A.G. stating that a few of the
first ones made did not get stamped and also Russell on the ricasso is splled with one L. My question to Forum members do these errors make the knife value increase or decrease? I have added a photo from A.G.'s 1977 catalog you can print it out if you want to see the prices, the Limited edition was priced at $100/

these were decent ger. made.do'nt keep up with his stuff much but the small ivory bullet from late 70s or early 80s went thru the roof.some of the productions made in old h.& r. factory have collector value.most stuff is good quality but have seen very few increase.

Dennis, Thanks for the feedback. The Sing without a serial # was one of the first ones produced in 1977, and the Sting II was made in the early 80's

Joe, I have a letter from A.G. Russell saying that the StingI was made in 1977 in one of the first production runs. I am not sure why it did not have a serial # on it or why Russell was spelled with only one L on the ricasso. and the Sting II is numbered 85 but still has the spelling error on the ricasso, the Sting II is the one with the baby hammerless revolver. And the one at the top in the display case has a Hippo Ivory handle.
