A.G.Russell Texas Ranger folders: Are they made in China??

It depends on the specific knife. Perhaps the current ones are made in the PRC, but I had one that was manufactured by Camilus before the company went under. Have a picture or link to the knife you want to know about?

He specifically asked about the Texas Ranger folder, which AG has three models listed for - 2012, 2013, and 2014. All three say they are made in China.

I understand that. But AG Russell has been selling his Texas Ranger line of knives long before 2012. Here's one made in the good ol' US of A.

This post should be asked in the General Knife sub forum. His Website tells the Country of manufacture for all knives.

Wow, that is a gorgeous knife. Thanks for sharing the pic. I assumed, perhaps mistakenly, that he was asking about current production knives.

Yeah, I would normally assume that also, except that AG plainly marks the country of origin of the knife on each catalog page in a very visible. So, until the OP clarifies which knife he is talking about, it'll be a guessing game.

I agree, Texas Ranger knife made OCONUS... But, hey, Texas was once OCONUS :)

Yup, they're made in China and they're great. There were two brought out in 2001 and 2003 that were made by Camillus in the US (I'm still looking for one of those....everytime they pop up on E-bay funds have another purpose) but other than that one I have them all.

I'll see if I can take a picture sometime.

i cant vouch for the texas ranger but, I have 2 ag Russell rancher knives ..both made over seas....if ur a knife snob get over it....the rancher is awesome..best edc a man can have...in my opinion there isn't another 24.95 knife out there that comapares....ive had 70 dollar knives that didn't compare..

Just yesterday, a China knife skeptic inspected my AGR Folding Hunter and... ordered one.
A. G.'s name is on these knives.

Maybe he is not a knife snob. Maybe he is a patriot. The whole idea of having a knife to honor the Texas Rangers made in China is absurd.

Read the guidelines! Keep the politics out of this forum. Thank you.

I have all 7 of the China made AGR Texas Ranger folders, from "185 Years of Service" to "191 Years of Service" (2014). Every one has the best fit and finish of any production knife i own. The tolerances leave absolutely no extra space whatsoever.
These are big knives and any one of them would last a lifetime of hard use. Plus Phil Gibbs did some engineering & design that allows for a longer blade for handle length and the blade edge cannot touch the spring under any circumstances.
Hopefully someone else can properly explain this unique design for the spring and pivot that allows for this.
AG once said he looked all over the world for a knife company to produce this new design and only a company in China took up the challenge.
I guarantee: handle one and you will want to buy one.
