I saw these on the cover of the latest catalog that A.G. Russell sent to me and I hadn't heard anything about them here, so I thought I'd make a post.

I think they look pretty sweet. Three cover options; stag, smooth white bone, or desert ironwood. 2-7/8" mirror-polished, wharncliffe blade with M390 steel. Contoured, nickel-silver bolsters. Made in Italy. Looks like a great knife to me. :)

I'm pretty sure I'll be grabbing the desert ironwood version when the become available. Price might be a little high, but not at all unreasonable.

Really wish I could get them to send me a catalog... used to get them all, now I can't get a single one sent to me. :(

I like the rear bolster idea, Some patterns are nice in barehead form All the time, but its nice to see the change once in a while.

But too bad its is one of those stupid "end cap" half length bolsters... should have the same length as the blade end bolster to balance the look imo.

Brian, you might consider editing your post. These do not have a half stop as A.G. Russell designed this knife and he despised half stops.

I wonder of the ironwood is a representative of the wood type. It looks like burl. If they are all similar, I'd be in for one. If they Cherry picked the nicest of the bunch for cover photo, maybe not. Wonderful knife overall.

I may have to get that ironwood, thanks for sharing.

Always happy to enabl.... Er... Help!

I don't think I even asked for a catalog to be honest... I purchased a few barlows from them and the catalogs started coming after that.

Thanks! I'm not sure how I missed that, it was staring me right in the face, lol.

Man, I hope it's all burl. I have a feeling that one is probably the prettiest of the bunch though. I guess we'll find out soon enough. :)

I just talked to A.G. Russell customer service, who had a supervisor check on the knives... It looks like A.G. Russell specifically paid for desert ironwood burl for these knives. They should be beauties! :) I just put my order in. They're still on backorder, but they are expected any time.

The Swayback frame ranks up there as being one of my very favorites. It comprises a considerable chunk of my collection - whether it is paired with a wharncliffe, a sheepfoot, or a lambsfoot blade, I like them all.

I always enjoy seeing new options so I appreciate this being brought to our attention. Though I will certainly be looking to scoop up one or two to check out, at first glance, something seems a wee bit off with the frame - maybe it's just the endcaps throwing me off.

I am not sure how A.G. Russell does their Stag but if it's European sourced, it may be a little hit and miss. That said, all three cover options sound great, it's going to be hard for me to choose.

The front bolster seems a little longer than most to my eyes.

I have one example of an A.G. Russell in Stag. It's impossible to know how the Stag will be on these but I thought I'd post it here. This is an exchange. The first one I got was way too fat and I returned it for this one. The width isn't too bad on this one but I like the mark side Stag better than the pile side.

Fixall Fixall That smooth white bone is right up my alley...man, I love a swayback...how am I gonna say no to this one...hmmmm....

Nice looking, except for the silly bullet shield. The price is more than I'd want to pay.... I would get one of Mike's knives before this one.

I don’t mind the shield...it’s different...ish.

Everything about them looks great...except for the shield...its ...how do I put this without offending the mods...err it looks like a part of my anatomy ...
It looks like a bullet...but thanks for that. Now I can’t unsee it...I’m out. 😂🤣😂🤣

I think that white bone looks gorgeous too! If the DI version looks as good as I'm hoping, I might come back for seconds and grab that white bone. It's priced a little bit better too. I know we have the Italian modern-traditionals with M390 these days, but it's going to be awesome to pick up a more traditional, pinned swayback in premium steel. :)

ROFL!
