This review was done on the 4th of Jan, I learned about it today. I do not know who Dark Child is, but he is a customer who reviews knives that he has bought and paid for. I thought that you would be interested in what he had to say. ˆam not crazy about his photography, it shows way too much detail that the naked eye would miss, but fair is fair. LX Emergency reviewed this same knife, another customer who paid the same as everyone else.

I respectfully disagree, I'd say a lot of people observe their knives in even greater detail using their naked eye.

A.G., the knife looks great.

Ironically I was eyeballing this knife on your site yesterday, I really like it.

So far I've bought five of your imported designs and they've all been unbelievably well made.
I can't even pick a favorite, I like them all....

Small note about the version I own. Mine is the 2010 Texas Ranger version. It's one of my favourite knives that I own. It's easily the most strong feeling knife that I own. And funnily enough it's also an amazing slicer.

I agree with pretty much everything the videographer stated about it. Well made, sturdy excellent money/value ratio.

wish it wasn't made in china.

Necro thread, but here's something of interest, "Why we make knives in China".

http://www.agrussell.com/Articles/a/215/

The simplest and most basic answer to that question is "to stay in business". With the bankruptcy of Schrade and Camillus, and the loss of Arrowhead, any hope I had of continuing to make any substantial volume of my designs in the United States was gone.

[...]

Some people cannot bear to own a knife made in China, some cannot bear to own a knife made outside of the U. S. I understand this. Unfortunately, I cannot solve the problem. The choices are higher prices or "Made in China". The quality we are offering is fantastic; as good as, or better than, can be found anywhere today,

"Why we make knives in China"

Well Rough Riders go for about $10 and AGR chinese knives go for $70...that's why. :)

RR doesn't have anything like the locking Sunfish, but try one of AGR's Rancher or Cowboy knives ( $24 - $29 ) and let us know how it compares to a $10 RR.

I really do like it but 80 bucks for a china made knife with medium-low grade chinese steel

if it was 40-50 bucks then I would get it.

I've seen the AGR knockoff of sodbusters. Not impressed. The $12 Rough Ryder 3-blade lock back whittler is more impressive.

Right now, AGR sells a yellow delrin Rancher (RUS-CX13YD) for $24.95 (3 1/2" closed) and knifecenter (Bladeforum's approved vendor) sells a yellow Case Jr Sodbuster (CA032) for $25.95 (3 5/8" closed).

I have all three knives you mentioned , except my case jr sb is peach-seed bone so I paid $40 for it.

The AG Cowboy and Rancher knives are not designed or executed like any other sodbuster knife I've seen, except for a custom and I own over a dozen soddies.

AG's knife has a stainless steel frame , internal stop pin to accommodate the over sized bade -vs- frame , and a bushing in the pivot area. So my only comment would be that some purists might not care for a modern interpretation of an old classic pattern.
I like Rough Rider knives as much as the next guy and I'm amazed at the quality of those knives at their price point, but they don't compare to the execution or build quality of the AG knives.... just my opinion and i respect yours too.

That Sunfish is a BEAST!

Mr. Russell is a real class act and a true legend in the knife industry. It's great seeing him on Bladeforums when he has the opportunity. You've gotta hand it to the man for his passion for this hobby that we all love and for having the best guarantee out there. You may find a knife for a few dollars cheaper somewhere else at times, but I doubt it'll come with the same guarantee that comes with buying from A.G. Russell.
