A gear lovers lament

Why am I obsessed with "gadgets and gear"? Let's see - I have the latest watches, gear bags, back packs, lighters, multi-tools, mini tools, knives (oh, do I have knives), pens, wallets, boots, compasses, swiss army knives, flashlights, keychain tools, etc. Yet I log on to the computer every night searching for more "stuff". Am I just a shallow, materialistic jerk, or am I on the cutting edge of cooldom? What is it that makes us gear freaks need this stuff? God says you're not going to have any possessions in heaven (if I ever get there), so why do I care so much about possesssions? Anyone else ever feel this way? By the way, what am I missing (ha! ha!)

I know how you feel. Exactly how you feel as a matter of fact. I think the important thing is to not define yourself by what you have. Sometimes it's easy to do especially when you appreciate quality like we do!
