Back in January I contacted Charlie to see if he had any plans for the display cases he was showing in some of his posts. He replied that he did not, however, he did have a display case that he had not used yet as it did not match his others. He very generously offered that if I wanted it I could have it (in exchange for one coin). We made plans to make the exchange at the OKCA show, and I came home with a beautiful display case. I did post a couple of preliminary pictures in the OKCA thread. I now have the case filled (still room for more) and hanging on my wall.
I have been trying to get good pictures for the last few days. However, my living room either has too much light and glare, or is too dark. I have given up, these are the best I could do. The last picture is the view from my easy chair. I love being able to look up from reading, doing a crossword or watching tv and see knives displayed on the wall.

That’s great Dan! Charlie is a generous man:thumbsup::thumbsup:. Wonderful knives and a beautiful display case=a wonderful sight to behold:D Only problem is you are going to need another display case pretty soon to fill up—well, not a problem an opportunity:eek::)

Really nice bunch of knives you have there. Makes me realize I need some old jigged bone.

Wonderful gesture on Charlie's part, but that's the kind of person he is!

Spectacular job flushing out the case!! Hope we get to see some close ups of those knives. Beyond superb, Charlie !!!!!!

Very nice pictures. Charlie is one of the most giving(not only in tangible material but his vast knowledge) blade-brother forumites you'll ever find in this community. It's good to have him here to be certain.

Hey danno50, what do you know about the large, wooden-handled folder in the left case (the only one with a bail)? My Grandfather gave me a similar knife years ago with a tang stamp stating only "Gilbert Saville." Yours is the first of its kind that I have seen online and I would appreciate any info you could share.

Thanks for the comments everyone. Lloyd, I think I have enough space to squeeze in at least another year's worth of collecting.
Abbydaddy, the knives are held in place with rare earth magnets. There is a sheet of galvanized steel, covered with fabric, inserted over the plywood backing in each side of the case. There are held in place by the stopper pieces of wood you can see around the inside edges of the case. The knives are then attached to the backing with the magnets placed on the backs of the blades.
Oldmanwilly, the knife you are asking about is commonly called a coke bottle hunter, or just a folding hunter. They are quite common, most companies made them. A search for folding hunter, or coke bottle hunter in this forum, or on ebay, should bring up lots of examples. Mine is an EC Simmons era Keen Kutter. Goins has two listings for Gilbert Saville: Gilbert Saville Works Ltd, c1895 to 1921, a trademark used by Stauffer, Eshleman & Company; Gilbert Saville Works Ltd Germany, c 1895 to 1921, also a mark used by Stauffer, Eshleman & Company.

It's looking good, Dan! :thumbsup::)
The nice thing about those magnets is, it's very easy to shuffle the knives around and change the display as your collection changes. I emptied two of my cases for the Oregon Show, and miss the knives on the wall!! Can't wait to fill them up again!!
I can imagine you in your recliner, admiring that fine collection, Dan!! What more does a person need??!!

Congrats Dan!!!:D The display looks GREAT!
TOP shelf Charlie!! You are a True Friend!!:thumbsup:

Dave

Thanks Charlie and Dave. Charlie, I do enjoy having my nicer knives out where I can see them everyday, in such a beautiful display case.

Nice Display Dan.
Charlie is an amazingly generous guy and boy does this underline it!

Well done to you both- fantastic viewing and reading. :)
