A gift and Some thoughts on the Camp Muk

I was gifted this LT Wright Camp Muk a while back by Bloodloss Bloodloss . I've been using it some, and really giving it a far chance. I didn't like how round the handles were so I gave them some flat on the sides. I don't like how heavy the handles make the knife, so I'll probably replace them with wood or even... antler. It'd be neat to shoot a deer and then use his antlers for the handle of the knife that skint him.

I've considered turning it into a bit of a drop point, but I haven't committed yet and I'm still giving it a fair shake. Here's what I'm thinking...

So, does anyone else have this model and love it? Modded it?

Micarta is heavy?😳
I've always liked the lines of the Nessmuk. (Admittedly I've never handled one.) I don't think I would mod the tip ... even tho I would never use it to eat peas ... or beans ...

i had a camp muk just like that. i did the drop point mod like you are suggesting. i liked the knife much better with the blade mod.
my handles stayed stock. i am following to see if you do the blade mod.

Perhaps it's that beefy full tang... It sure seems butt heavy though for just the tang weight.

Nice! I have been considering it solidly for a while. I'd probably carry and use the knife as my belt knife if it was modded. Like it is, it's not as useful except as a skinning knife.

Nice work on the flats, JM2 JM2 !
I have seen Camp Muks with a regular point. (No drop) They are more like if you were to draw a line from where spine meets the scale, out to the point. Sometimes LT modifies the regular models a bit to have unique stuff to sell at shows. They also do a version of the Camp Muk with a swedge that makes a pointy tip. They call it a Tac Muk. I'll post some pics after work...

I rather like the original shape, too. Your knife, of course, but the blade shape has a purpose, I think. Keep us posted on how you shape it up for your needs!

Thanks for sharing Bloodloss.

I will say this. The Camp Muk, with its full flat grind, does well in the kitchen.
