He's been a great friend for a lot of years now. I moved to the central coast in 1957 when I was still 14 years old. I started at a new school and hardly knew anyone at all. I got into a scrap with one of the class bullies at lunch one day and when it seemed like I was getting the upper hand, his buddy jumped in and busted me in the mouth. Next thing I know the "buddy" was on the ground getting the poop beat out of him. He was the only one of us that ended up in the nurses office with numerous contusions and lacerations!

Larry (my new friend) had just come out of nowhere and cleaned the guys clock.
I'd never met him before that moment and then found out he only lived a few blocks from me. We became best friends from that point on and remain the same to this day. Larry was an only child and I ended up being with him and his parents as much as with my own. There's just not much if anything that we won't do for each other. He was a great leaning post all through my wife's illness.
Great and long lasting friendships are a real treasure for sure.
