Yet another tale of Bladeforum goodness. The kind that gives us that warm fuzzy feeling inside like we belong to something more than a "chat room". We belong to this "Porch". We may never meet one another, but we feel like we've know each other for years. Anyhow, on with the story.....
Yesterday was brutal. I went into Washington, D.C. for work (2 hrs each way), put in 10, and then rushed back to the ball fields in my town to coach JV little league football. Needless to say, I was glad to open my front door last night around 9pm after leaving it behind at 4:30am. I dropped my work bag, more on this latter, and much to my surprise, there were two beautiful flat rate boxes sitting on the dinning room table. A medium flat rate from our own Gary Graley (see my #891212 thread later today for more on this one) and a small flat rate from our own KBA.....Brett.
Brett and I have become close "Porch" friends. It started via the exchange. We both had knives that weren't selling and we traded. He received my ebony 33 and to me came an ebony harness jack (the Charlie-Diamond-Spear #15 version). We were both happy with the trade, then KBA misplaced the 33. Feeling bad, I sent him a red bone Schatt & Morgan Whittler (very much like the recent #38's). We began chatting and then by chance, I won a Chestnut Bone harness jack (the Charlie-Diamond-Spear #15) from him in a "piggyback" GAW.
Then came his move and "sell-off", and I felt like I stole a few of his knives for the money he charged, and then he refunded some of that for no real reason. Upon his return I sent his "trophy knife" back to him as a gift. Yes, the #24 Copperhead Abilene Stock Knife. She is a beaut, but it never felt like mine, so it "went home".
A few weeks ago, Cory brought up a discussion about giving a knife away that later "grew" on you and you had to have another copy. Brett was participating and I mentioned that I gave away and Amber Cut Stag Bone QCC Gunstock, and that now I collect/use this pattern, but have never replaced the ACSB version with my own.
Brett, being Brett, had this delivered to me, and it could not have come on a better day. It picked me up when I was so exhausted. Thanks Buddy!!!

Same color and everything, that is nuts.
And here is the knife, added with its brothers:
[/IMG]
Top Row: QCC-ACSB
2nd Row: Tuna Valley-Red Stag, SMKW?-Single Clip Gold Lip Pearl, Robeson/Pocketeze-Brown Bone
3rd Row: Northwoods-Ivory, Northwoods-MOP, QCC-Grey Birds Eye Maple
4th Row: Colonel Coon-Orange Bone, Canal Street-Amber Bone, Rigid-Amber Bone, S&M-Bone
5th Row: NKCA-Bone, GEC Outlaw-Stag, GEC 22 Mag-Stag
Brett-I'd say we are even at this point, but a wise old man once told me, "Friends don't keep track of the number of favors or gifts that are given between one another. They just give or help because they want to, and for no special reason."
Until next time, thank you.
