gladiator in 60v & spydie stretch in zdp
this was a non empirical sampling of edge durability of 60v opposed to zdp. the zdp made 51 twelve in. cuts before it quit shaving leg hair. the 60v made 73 cuts to go to same dullness. here are a few facts, the blade on the gladiator was thinner stock & slightly shorter than the spydie. i'm not good with a micrometer so no particulars are stated. both were sharpened down to ultra fine spydie ceramic & stropped on leather.bevels were not identical. the 60v is going on to be tested by one of our best guys so be patient & you will get a better picture of the 60v performance. i will mention that 60v has 17% chrome & about 5 or 6 % vanadium & is off the market.--dennis--gladiator was issued by northwoods & looks like gec made it , but that's a guess.

mmmmm....CARBIDES!

Thanks Dennis!
You gonna post her in traditional as well?
How does she feel in the hand?
How strong did they make the springs? Typical of GEC or more like Queen?

at least one inquiring mind wants to know.

frank i believe carbides is the key statement in this alloy. springs remind me of typical gec in cuban. although the blade stock is thinner than gec moose or big jack, the stag is nice & thick so control is real decent. i'm not wild about the blade cutouts but the performance of the alloy is impressive & the stag is really premium. i'm waiting to see results of equal bevels on sisal tests by knarfeng & ankerson so we have a more definitive resume of cutting performance. also i believe the sisal will give us a decent percentile of abrasion compared to m4 & zdp. my scanty knowledge leads me to believe this 60v will outperform zdp but may be a tie with m4. of course m4 is head & shoulders over 60v on the charpy index. members that find this steel in customs may want to stay around 58 r.r.one famous knifemaker mentioned on fillet knives it was a good cutter.
