I have a BM 585 and love it so far in fact the only issue that I have with it is that there is no jimping on the back of the blade...this leads me to my dilemma I am looking for a knife with maybe a little better grip to use on the boat and would like to stick with benchmade I have come down to 3 but am open to suggestions:
the BM 707 sequel
BM 615 mini rukus
or 556 mini grip
if any of yall own these knives or have any suggestions I would appreciate any input thanks

The 615 is a helluva knife. It's pretty rust resistant and will cut all day long. I have the Fullsized just because I like it better. But I've owned a 615 and it's a work horse. You'd be hard pressed to find a tougher knife made in the same numbers as the 615.

If you decide to give spyderco a chance, any of the H1s are wonderful and rust proof. You could buy an H1 fixed blade and just leave it on your boat.

Sticking to the original question and choosing just from those three I would get the 615. I think you'll find the 707 and mini grip to be too small for any other than little utility chores. I own the larger version of the 615 and have been very impressed with its quality and design.

That said, every time I go fishing or water skiing I take my Spyderco Pacific Salt. I find the H1 steel can't be beat for marine use.

Check out the Benchmade 100SH2O fixed blade as well.

I have one that I wear on my PFDs as a kayak knife.

It has adequate gimping and comes with a top-flight sheath. It is, however, ComboEdge only.

The X15 T.N. steel is also very similar to Spyderco's H1 in that it simply doesn't rust. Mine hasn't so far anyway.

It was one of the sharpest knives out of the box I've ever purchased.

Here's a couple of pics of the H2O with a Gerber River Shorty.

A.G. Russell has a very nice line of boat knives with locking marlin spikes. I'm not sure if that is exactly what you are after, but that would be my first choice. Good luck!

Gotta admit, this is a case for a BM 551 Grip - in a decent steel - and with a brighter, ie, orange or yellow, handle. Some jimping - very grippy handle - easily deployed/recovered when wet. SS 'liners' - AXIS lock - good size, properly shaped. Fair price.

+1 with TKC's suggestion about Spyderco Salt or a Boye knife.

For something a little different, maybe a Grohmann fixed blade?
Nice all-around utilitarian knives...
