A good brand of camo clothing?

Hi all,

I am about to try bowhunting and will need some camo clothes. I am not excited to spend a lot of money on scent-block type clothes, but I would like to get a quality "wardrobe," peice by peice. (I already have backpacking clothes, just need camo.) I am looking for something comparable to Marmot, North Face, etc., but I don't know any of the hunting brands.

The first thing I am looking for is a quiet rancoat, at least a shell, but not too insulated. Are Cabelas, Columbia durable brands? What are good qualities or brands to look for?

Good hunting practices and skills are much more important than camo in my opinion. I mean, you can be camo'd from head to foot and well hidden, but if you move at the wrong time, that critters gonna see you and your shot opportunity just left with the animal. Personally, I don't use any camo except for a 6 year old reversable fleece vest from Cabelas or when I hunt turkey. But lots of guys use it and use it to advantage.

Cabelas sells excellent quality goods in a couple of dozen different patterns. If you havn't already done so, talk to other bowhunters in your area and see what pattern they use or think is best. Look at the area you'll most likely be hunting, because you won't want something that looks like a lush forest floor if you'll be hunting a meadow or from a bare winter tree, because you'll end up looking like a dark blob no matter what you do. Pick the pattern that fits where you'll be hunting, but don't expect it to hide you from a suspicious critter because it won't. That's where the skills come in.

I tend to stick with US GI issue BDU's, made by propper and can be had for under $30 used for a pants/shirt combo. Plus i have had mine for a while and they are tough as nails, ripstop kicks ass. Those Field pants that are NYCO(50% cotton 50% nylon) are tougher though and can also be had in camo.
