I want to spend around $100 plus or minus and would like to be a carbon steel like 1095 and such full tang of course and sheath really does not matter because if I where to carry it then it would be lashed to a pack or in the pack itself. But really something to process wood easily and just take a good beating. I have seen videos of the RTAK 2 and that looks like a good knife for around the price I want but if there is a maker here on the forums that makes a knife like what I am describing the tell me please.

Thank you in advance

The plus or minus being around $30 but if you know a home run for a little more then tell me.

Are these posts necessary every post/thread with 'chop' in it? There are plenty of good reasons for carrying a knife instead of a hatchet or axe, many of which have been mentioned in those previous posts and threads.

All the knives have been mentioned too. Far more than axes. :)

The OP asked about knives specifically.

Don't overlook something even cheaper like a Martindale Golok 2. Durn fine chopper for the $$ actually.

A Machete is a good choice too actually. I just picked up one on ebay for $3.00. You could buy 33 at that price. Food for thought.

The biggest difference between a machete and the knives that have been mentioned is that the knives will be able to split wood by batoning easier. This is because they are a lot thicker. If you have neat wood the machete will baton fine, but if your wood is full of knots it will be really hard to baton.

The machete will win in price and weight, and match in chopping power.

Yes I did think about that and I also thought that the machete would be tougher to baton through being thinner than most knife of comparable size but the chopping power is also good on a machete

I figure the upcoming RAT jungalas will cost more, but for sure some folks will buy, find it's not for them and sell it for less. That blade is sure to be great.

Cold Steel Trail Master. A Wetterlings is around $50 and are recommended for wood chopping also.
