Hope all you guys had great luck with your christmas holiday! My wife's mother came through with the only sharp and pointy gifted to me this season my first real Buck 110 (i have a camillus clone that ive had for a few years:thumbup:) A classic for sure and beautiful too, only down side was it came with cordura rather than leather pants! A little dull too but a couple swipes with a pocket hone and it's good to go!

With some christmas cash i scored a 2003 Seahorse Whittler, ive been wanting one for a while finally found one locally NIB at a little hardware store, had to blow the dust of them! F&F is perfect, walks and talks and the blue grows on ya, also has the case american flag shield, very classy looking knife if i do say so. Knife came shave sharp too! Even my wife complimented on it "Oh thats kinda weird looking! But the blue is pretty!" Thats about as close to a compliment as ive come to expect:D
i have only purchased one other knife for myself since 2008 so this was a big deal to me to be able to take a plunge and it was a pattern ive always admired. Gotta Love Christmas gift Cash!
Thanks for looking!
cheers

Beautiful knives gene.

Is the Camillus you have an 886 model? I have one and it has kept me from buying a real 110 as well. You aren't helping me at all :p. You just bumped the 110 up on my list of wants.

Didn't realize the Seahorse was a relatively slim knife, looks like a very good pattern indeed and one I don't have!

I didn't get any Christmas cash, it just seemed to go to others or to Mr.Food& Miss Drink:eek::D

lovin the american flag on that case. that poor guy up there ^ only
got a shirt. haha

Great knives!

Could you do me a favor and tell me what the description is on the box for the blue stars and stripes? I have one (black 6225 1/2 coke bottle) but have not been able to find others with searches for "stars and stripes" or "4th of July" even though that is what I thought they were released as. I do not have the box, so I have been waiting for another to pop up.

as it appears on my box, hope it helps, i may contact case on it too, the other american flag shield is on my '04 saddlehorn and case told me it was their precursor to the building a Case for America program, but it's alot different than this one.

Hope you all had a great christmas! i had also noticed that case vaulted this pattern this year so i'm glad i got one as they'll be harder to find i'm sure!
Surprisingly slim knife for how long it is, its almost the same length as my Large stockman... nice ergo on the whittler, for me a very natural feel in hand...
thanks

the camillus i have is only marked with the camillus tang stamp no model number but the clam pack is marked Model # BM9C, although a google of the 886 shows a dead ringer for mine 'cept a much nicer finish and nickel silver instead of brass... either way the camillus i have is a keeper, loved it since i got it a few years ago, takes and holds an excellent edge, locks up good and came with a nice leather sheath

Well, I got a Rough Rider stockman from my parents. From myself I got a 2004 marked Remington (Camillus) Bullet Baby Trapper in mint shape, though no box. Also ordered a few folders in 440C that need scales (blanks) for a "someday" project. Got myself two more of those big, ornate, not too practical damascus bowie types from a guy in France. Supposedly 15n20 and 1095. They go with the one I already had. One to each of the two boys and one for me. Sort of a tribal, clan kind of traditional thing. I even managed to snag a couple of out of production, hard to find Cold Steel knives. Traded for an unused Mini-Culloden (been going to work with me under my uniform shirt) and tonight from the same guy I bought a NIB Bush Ranger, Carbon V steel for $50. Haven't seen many around and the ones I've seen the Carbon V ones all go for at least $100 in top shape.

I got rid of a lot of knives the past few years, but seem to be slowly gathering more. I sold a few to a guy at work, one of which was a little Boker Magnum canoe, cheaper of the bunch, and darn if I didn't turn around and get another just like it off that auction site. Hey, the price was right and it was free shipping. Came in the mail today. My carbon steel German Boker canoe was missing its far eastern companion.

Hey, I gave up all foods of animal origin, coffee and such right before Thankgiving (talk about timing), and even pipes and cigars except for the occasional foray. I gotta have a few vices. Knives and guns always seem to be an easy vice for me to get consumed by. At least the tinned pipe tobaccos will cellar well and be better and more valuable with age. Okay, doesn't hurt that I got off insulin and my cholesterol meds and lost 15 lbs either.

Folks have pretty much come to realize that it's better not to try and get me knife and gun stuff unless it's on a list or they know I have specifically identified something as desired.

Nice haul there Ivan! Nice to get something you've been wanting for some time.

From Case...via Facebook
Hi Gene - the flag shield you refer to is actually named the Case Stars & Stripes shield and was introduced in a series of Rogers jigged Pitch Black Bone handled knives in early 2002. The shield concept was developed simply out of our commitment to American hand-crafting, and is one of a very few we use which are painted in colored enamel.
8 patterns made up that 2002 set: RussLock (61953L), Trapper (6254), Medium Texas Toothpick (610094), Peanut (6220), Baby Butterbean (62132), Medium Stockman (6318), Swell Center Jack (6225 1/2), and Doctor's Knife (6185). The next series came out in 2003 with Navy Blue handles - this was the family that included your Seahorse Whittler. Great question - thanks for asking! Enjoy your knife...

they always get back to me in short order via facebook, excellentcustomer service!
hope this helps ya

Hey, Amos, those French bowies sound interesting. Care to share any more info, or some pics?

Will try to find the pic of one I have and get some of the other two soon, then put them up.

I'm pretty sure they are made in Pakistan or some similar country, as many are now, but they are a LONG way from the usual Paky Stainless we're used to. Ornate, quite pretty, but the balance is a little off. Price paid for the fanciness. Since three of them, with shipping (three single purchases) and excellent customer service, came in just around $200 and they're intended for the family equivalent of ceremonial knives, I'm happy.
