A Good Classic Style Lockback?

I want to get my uncle a knife for Christmas, and he's into the classic style slipjoint and lockbacks.

I've been looking around for a nice folding lockback with a drop point blade about two to three inches long that's made of a decent blade steel. I want it to have bolsters and the handle material be either stag or a natural color of jigged bone.

My price range is about 50-70 dollars, and I haven't had much luck finding one that meets my specifications, and is a brand I know and trust, and will actually tell me what the steel is.

I want to break down and just get him a jigged bone Kiwi, but I don't think he'll like the way it looks at all.

Thanks.

Those AG Russells are nice. If you don't want to spend that much, check out a Remington R5.

Case copperlock maybe?

The AG Russell lockbacks are very nice, but you'll find your budget pushed to it's limits. Are you familiar with the swing-guard pattern knife? It's a lockback with a guard that swings into place when the knife is opened, like this:

This particular knife is a Queen Swing Guard with cocobolo handles, $48 at www.cumberlandknifeworks.com . There are other Swing-Guards available, some with D2 steel, from Queen, Schatt and Morgan, and Canal Street Cutlery.

Happy Shopping!

The Browning Presentation Series is a very nice gentlemans knife made with AUS-8 steel and comes with stag, quincewood, mother-of-pearl, or cocobolo handles. (2 1/8" blade, $40-$60 bucks depending upon handle material)

I gave one to my father-in-law last year and he loves it.

Kabar also has some nice sliplocks. I like the Warthog folder although it isn't very historical in style. At camp everyone gets a kick out of it and wants to mess with it. The hobo is a great camping knife also especially if hiking or backpacking about.

This one in stag pretty much perfectly matches what I was looking for. Thanks.
