a good deal?

found a place to get aluminium plate extruded 1" thick x6"x18" is this good to use for quenching
is 81$ a good deal for 2 plates cut

I bought mine as 1 plate from a dealer on Ebay.

6061 16" X 14" X 7/8" for $51.00 plus shipping. I cut it in half and it work great.

How do you quench with an aluminum plate?

you need 2 plates and its for air cooled steels
leave the blade in the foil and press between the 2 plates its faster the air cooling and safe then oil from what ive heard
search it there should be lots of post on it

I feel guilty. I went to the scrap metal yard. 2 pieces 1" x 6" x ~14" for $20 I think.

I tried that around here, but I guess oil field towns don't have a lot of junk Aluminum. Just steel and whiskey bruised cars.
