I know this is a general question, but i am sorta new at fixed blades. I am looking for a GOOD looking fixed blade knife that is under $50. I plan on carrying it with me a lot. I do not want a real thick blade like a survival knife. It would be nice if the knife was slim enough not to be noticed by many people. One knife that i like is the spyderco temperance (a bit pricy though). I'm sure there are other good knives out there :D :D
I thank you all

Did a little searching and found something you might like. It is made by Gerber, a fairly good knife brand. It is called the Gerber Gator Fixed Blade. It has a sleek looking black handle, fairly thin blade, a non-survival looking knife. Comes in clip, america (traditional Bowie), or gut hook. Large enough to get a job done, but small enough to carry everyday. I know the folding Gator is a great work knife, the fixed version should be the same. The price is just what you were looking for, $50.00.

The Buck Diamond back i have wears pretty well
they have a larger size and a smaller size
and is sharp enough to slice finger prints off :D

I like the Spyderco Morans, trailing point and drop point.

I carry mine daily.

Good Steel.

Ergo Grip.

Lightweight.

Excellent Sheath.

Excellent Sheath Options, can be modified for IWB with a IWB strap from Blade-Tech. Add paracord and you can suspend/string/lash/tie/lanyard/tether/static line that bad boy to anything.

Two Blade Styles to choose from or buy both, like I did.

In your price range, the Cold Steel Recon Tanto is a great blade. They make lots of great knives for a low price.

Another vote for the Spderco Moran drop point here, although it dose cost more than $50 new.

I would go with Fallkniven WM1, you can get it for $57 with a kydex neck sheath.

Thank You for the replies
I like the looks of the spyderco moran.
I also found the spyderco Fred Perrin knife, but it is kinda expensive.

A GOOD fixed blade knife for under $50?

...No problem:

Buck Nighthawk. This knife is an excellent value.

You should also check out Buck Vanguards.
They are very nice looking drop point fixed blades in the 4 1/8" to 4 1/4" blade length range.
I found a gold Titanium coated model for under $65.00(model 192). It has a beautiful Cocobolo looking handle, brass guard and butt cap and a handsome leather sheath.
All in all, it's a very nice looking working knife for the money. They also come with a rubber grip, but do yourself a favor and spend a little more for the wood, It's well worth it aesthetically speaking.;)

The Buck Nighthawk is also a great deal of knife in the $50.00 price range, but is more "tactically" oriented.

I was looking for the same sort of knife recently, and settled on a Brusletto advertised on the Museum Replicas website for $30. It has a laminated stainless steel blade of around 3 1/2 inches, which is a good size for utility use. The knife came shaving sharp, and the laminated Norwiegian blades have a great reputation.

Also, there are alot of Scandinavian knives advertised by Ragweed Forge, with many costing under $50.

i think a lot of the john greco fixed blades are selling in that range now....a lot of knife for the $$, i have a 5" tanto, a good knife, albeit a heavy one, thick steel blade for sure

I vote for Spyderco Morans too!!

In case you are willing to spend a bit more, and would like to have a "show knife" as well as an "utility knife", the babes below may well be a good choice.

Antique-like one piece design, damacus steel blade, hand forged from Hitchi Blue Steel No. 2, all charged me only $90.
