Well reading through the posts in this place really makes me want to buy stuff. Since my next purchase is going to be a replacement for my lost camp knife I thought I'd get some ideas for a nice folding knife that I can ask for for Xmas.

Something under 4" that I can use as an EDC knife. Preferably under $100. Suggestions?

Are you talking 4" closed or 4" blade length? That makes a big difference.

In your price range, I would consider the following:

For under 4" blade length, the above-mentioned griptilian is a good choice, either in 440C or the Cabelas version in D2. Spyderco also makes some good knives in the sub-4" blade class that don't cost an arm and a leg, like the endura.

For under 4" closed, which usually means a blade around 3", the mini-griptilian is a great choice, as would be a spyderco native or calypso jr lightweight. The native is just over 4" closed, but is close enough.

I prefer 3 to 3.5" blades on folders too. Mainly because I travel so much and most states allow up to a 3.5" blade before it becomes illegal should you get caught with it.

Nothing like getting stopped for speeding and losing a good expensive knife to a cop because it is a 1/4 or 1/2 inch too long after he asks you if you have any weapons in the vehicle or on your person. Been there done that.

spyderco native\ delica

these 3 are a great bang for the buck & great knives all around

Like Glockman99 said,
The Benchmade Griptilian 551.

Or for a smaller knife, the Mini-Griptilian 556.

Good luck,
Allen.

If it is going to be a camp knife also. I would recommend a Spyderco Chinook II. If ya check around you can find one for under $100.00.
Great knife.

There are lots of good knives in the 3"-3.5" range. The Benchmade 940 is my EDC but it certainly isn't the only choice. Spyderco has a few as do other makes. But not having clue as to the type of knife you like, look around and narrow the playing field a bit and maybe we can give you some pro's and con's of your choices.

"Could always just... not speed."

Na, my foots too heavy for that. In Oklahoma the speed limit is 75 and everyone does 80. When I get to another state where it is just a mere 65 it just seems boringly slow. LOL
