My wife was searching for a product online and some program has invaded our computer. Every five minutes a pop-up comes up even when we're not online, and I can't google anything as all results go to Bizrate or some other shopping site. Help!

Avira is a very good free program ... you can use spybot too to find and eliminate unwanted malware
You might also be able to just go to a previous restore point which might fix your problem.

Pair it up with Malwarebytes and run scans periodically. Avast will expire after 60 days but you can uninstall and re-download for another 60 if I'm not mistaken.

you can get a free one year for Avast if you dig far enough on the site.
Spybot search and destroy is a good compliment, but you have to manually run it from time to time.

Another product I'd recommend installing is ThreatFire. You want to install it along with an anti-virus. It's worked well for me and stopped a few things from invading my computer.
