I need a glue or sealer to help keep the stiching from coming out on a sheath. Any thing good you can get localy? Thank you!

I just stitch back a few holes, after I reach the end. It usually takes a push stick to get the needle, and thread back through the holes, and a pliers to pull them, but it won't come out.

I cut the thread leaving about 1/8" sticking up fom the sheath, and melt it with a lighter, pushing it down at the last with my thumb. That will mushroom the thread end.

I guess you could always use a drop of super glue, but be very careful about getting any at all on the outside of the sheath. It will show up like a searchlight when you stain, or dip it.

perhaps if you told a bit more of the problems with the seath in question, then the guys who have years of seath making behind them , might better be able to answer your question?.....

I do the same as Mike says,,,,and it seems to work for me,,,so far...

If in the future one of my sheaths comes back with the stitching tore, I guess I would just re-do the stitches again,,,

The idea of covering the stitches with something to protect them,,,is interesting,,,But I have not read from anyone here yet that this needs to be done...

I do it just like Mike does. Stitch back a few holes and cut very short and melt the ends.
If you mean gluing the leather before you stitch, I use barge cement or weld wood contact cement.

Thanks for the replys guys! The sheath is a factory made sheath that has some hard use in it and I was just looking for a type of glue or something to help keep the worn sheath mouth stitching from loosening up.
