whose got a good hand and a half. i have been looking at the cold steel version but people say there is better out there on this site. a comment i read made me fear the tang breaking and that is my biggest problem with swords. i need one that can take a beating. it would help if i had a heavy blade too.

help please!

Albion and arms and Armor make about the best.

Albion second generation swords are top shelf.

They also make a less expensive line called the "squire line"
A little rougher in the finish and not sharp out of the box although they will sharpen it for $25.00 extra. An excellent buy.

If you want something a little cheaper you can try finding a Del Tin 5143. It's one of their stronger swords.

Cold Steel well,

The pommel on the (on the earlier ones) was not secured well and broke off on some models.

These pics were posted awhile back of one that failed.
From CS web site:
Every Hand-and-a-Half Sword reflects the highest standards in workmanship and materials and comes fully sharpened and ready for battle!

I'm not sure if they fixed it or not. So in my mind Cold Steel's Hand and a half is pretty much a "light" cutting/costume piece. To me this is unacceptable and "cheaply" made.

Cant go wrong with an Angus Trim blade, or a Tinker if you've got the funds. Neither one will be "heavy" but they can definetely take a beating;)

Your quite correct, I did not include Angus and Tinker because their swords tend to be on the light side. Defiantly worth looking at.

Anyone else get "Reported Attack Site!" for that site (firefox anti-malware protection feature)?
Can't be good for their business :/

yep after I upgraded firefox. I turned the feature off it was annoying. I've been visiting there site for years without any issues.

Angus Trim does make a few pieces with heavier blades. Worth a look, for sure. Great swords, great guy.
