I'm newe to bladeforums and i need opinions on 3 knives. (1) Esee izula 2, (2) Cold Steel Recon 1, (3) Buck Vantage Pro 530v mini.

They're all "good" knives, but good for what? That's important to know.

What do you plan to use it for? EDC, skinning, SD, whittling, etc?

A lot of fellas find the smaller Buck Vantage Pro to be a bit too small.

The Izula is a nice knife. If this is for EDC (Every Day Carry), consider whether a fixed blade is what you want.

The Recon 1 is a decent knife. You might also look at the Cold Steel American Lawman.

You mean the S30V Vantage? It's a good knife for the price. But I'd rather have one really good knife than the two folders you've mentioned. At around $100 there are a lot of very nice options.

As for the Izula 2 and the Recon 1, the Izula is well liked by many here; definitely a solid EDC fixed blade. I'd recommend something other than the Recon 1, though. You can do a lot better at that price point than Taiwanese made AUS-8 steel with almost no warranty to back it up. Take a look at the Spyderco Manix 2 if you're looking for something tough, or the Kershaw Speedform 2 or RAM, or maybe the Benchmade Griptilian.

There is no such thing as Taiwanese made AUS-8, which is a proprietary mix produced by Aichi Steel Corporation, Japan.

I just sharpened a Recon 1 for a friend--My Lansky did a wonderful job on it. Took a wicked edge! Solid folder for sure!

Right, that came out wrong. I meant AUS-8 blade and Taiwanese knife. Both are good features for cheaper knives, I'm not convinced that it's appropriate at the Recon 1's price point.
