It always saddens me when I hear and see that another of our finest has been lost. My deepest sympothies to Mr. Hoffmans family and God Bless his soul.
His death is a terrible loss and if this is inappropriate please delete but,
I have been corresponding the last couple weeks with a soldier in Iraq that is interested in one of my knives, he along with my nephew are so totally greatful for any support we can send them, both mentally and materially. Both have told me that there is a great deal of good being done in Iraq and that the vast majority of the people they meet are so thankful for their presence there. Totally opposite of what you here through the media and news distributors. These fine people are doing us, the people of Iraq and the world a great service, don't critize them, support them and let them know it.
These 2 have told me that it is a very hard and dangerous place and that all they want is the love and support from us here at home, I hope Mr. Hoffman knew how much his dedication ,service and sacrifice meant to the people of the USA, and that we will always honor his memory along with the others that have served this country so admirably. I salute him and all our brave men and women.

Bill

though I was Navy years before him
he was still a comrade in the big picture..
RIP Mate

A true hero has passed. I wish more people would recognize that.

RIP, Devil Dog.

As a sidenote, my Son is currently a Marine and is heading over to Iraq this morning. Please say a prayer for him as well.

Very sad and tragic to die at such a young age.

RIP Sir......................

Darrel,

My condolences to you and the young man's family and other friends. I do not have words for the sacrifices being made on behalf of freedom. I am honored to be a part of a country that values that freedom and all who serve deserve our full support including our constant knowledge and thought of the willingness to fight for it.

Bastid and others who have sent there well wishes.

It is a sad day to see young people destroyed in the sake of freedom. The cost of Freedom has a price that in not realized by most unless you are close to a person that has perished in freedoms name. We are guarded society in this country from many evils in the world. God bless the USA and our Military personal.

God Bless the Marine Corps. I shall try not to shed a tear for this Marine, but instead strive to become as great a man as he and many others like him must have been.

Not trying to be morbid, but I have a special interest in armor having driven some myself. Was the Marine actually a tanker in an M1, or did he have a different type of armor MOS?

Thanks.

Terry,

Fen was in the vehicle that ran over the road side bomb and flipped over killing 12 marines on the 3rd of August. Please look it up on line and I'm sure that the whole story will be there. I think they could not get out because the hatch was blocked from the vehicle weight keeping it closed while it burned from the bomb.
