A good paint for attaching grit to stainless steel scales?

What would be a good paint to use to adhere some grit to stainless steel for the purpose of adding traction? I'd like to have a more versatile, artistic alternative to grip tape, basically.

Is there something that works as well as Testors paint on SS but that comes in a much larger volume?

Don't think that would be my choice to add better grip. If I was to go that route I would use an epoxy paint. Need a paint that would stand up.

+1 though surface prep on the knife to get a proper bond may be tricky.

You could also have the surface milled if thickness allowed.

You need to rough up the surface to get the paint or glue to stick. If you put sand in the paint or glue, you wind up with a grippy surface. They make special gritty paints for swimming pool decks. I would be inclined to run the handles under a fly cutter so that all the texture was in the stainless.

I have used pick-up truck "spray on" bed liner coating with good results. I have used self etching primer with the bed liner material, mostly on al. handle material. The liner spray gives good grip and is pretty durable, but I am still in testing mode. for SS, I don't think you really need the primer. I know the coating will NOT take an impact very well, but holds up to pocket wear nicely. It seems to work best with 3 to 4 coats. I also "bake" mine under a halogen lamp for about 1/2 to 1 hr. Be sure to rough up and clean the surface.
