I'm a fan of traditional knives and rarely carry my tactical knives anymore. Last week I had a mishap and injured my left wrist making opening my traditionals painful. I have switched to a Spyderco from my box of knives for the time being. I live in Los Angeles so fixed blades are out. Tacticals are a great option if you have an injury or mobility issue. Not my first choice, but it gives me a choice nonetheless. I sure miss my SAK Compact.

Modern one handed opening folders are not necessarily, and probably most often not, "tactical" knives. Speaking as the former moderator of the Traditional Forum as well as someone with more than a few one-handed opening knives.

Get better soon.

Thank you!

I'm in the same position as a life long traditional/slipjoint knife user with advancing arthritis in my hands.
Still need a knife multiple times daily. Wasn't comfortable with a F.B.
Was gifted a Spyderco Delica Wharncliffe. EZ open.Very utilitarian.
Love the thing even as odd as it looks.
Still carry a traditional for small stuff.
Edit to add-I put a big EZ open notch on my GEC 48 that works well.
Kind of my dress up knife now when I wear slacks.

Sorry to hear that. I live a couple of hours to the south of you (maybe 3 on a Friday night heading down the I5). As I've aged my fingernails have become brittle, so I have problems opening many of my favorite traditionals that have strong springs. So I feel your annoyance. Depending on your injury, you may find that there are some traditionals that you can still open. But, any knife is better than no knife. So hang in there.

Strange how our bodies change as we age. May or may not help you, but try eating jello everyday.

Every problem has a solution hidden in it somewhere.
The best of luck to you; in finding yours!
For the record: I have a wonderful combination of neuropathy AND arthritis.
It took a while; but even I found the right combination!
You can too 👍
