I have some small folders . One or two are prized such as a cold steel mini tanto folder . So light and small as to not bulge much in a pocket or weigh you down . I don,t like getting pocket dust on them gumming up joints or just being unsightly .

I come across a lot of odd gloves in my travels . Lost and founds , church sales and the odd one lost on my property . A long finger off a good leather glove makes a fine sheath/protector . Depending on the stitch holding them together you can just cut them off and the seam won,t unravel . If you think it will a simple stitch or two will secure it .

While they won,t hold a medium folder they might just keep a prized posession dust free and free of obstructions .

I also have an ironwood boken/sword.walking stick . To protect the end and make it relatively skid proof I stole a finger off a work glove my dog likes to play with and contact glued it onto the end . I also put a couple of stitches in the side to constrict it onto the tip . If I ever have to defend myself with the stick I can give them the finger at the same time . L:O:L

That is a nice idea, it would not be too much trouble to add a little belt loop to give a slip sheath for belt carry. You could even do a fold down top.

I never thought of a flip over closure which would make them much more dust resistant . I am trying to remember if most gloves would loan themselves to it .
I think the back of the glove on some would be the same piece as the finger . I could just cut a flap up the top side of the finger . Maybe sew a half loop on to insert the flap into .

It does have to be a very small folder . Like I said that mini-tanto from cold steel is perfect and a well made knife .

If you put a few holes around the top and ran some parachord through them you could cinch it up and have a built in lanyard.

Go to cuttersandcollectors.com, Ron Ryder has just what you are looking for.

What an incredible idea, I've been looking for a holder for a bic lighter(to keep it from discharging), wow.

Thanks

The big thing with finger sheaths is to see how they are stitched before you cut them . They will all have a line of stitching going up one side and down the other . Some will also have other stitching which may have to have the end of the cut stitch fastened somehow . If I think a stitch will unravel . I just use a needle with a thick thread to stitch it shut . Remember if you use ordinairy needles they can break in leather . I use (what else)glovers needles . They are inexpensive and more common than you might think . Google an image of one and you might find you have seen them at your local el-cheapo store . They kinda have a spear point . I also wax my thread which I do simply by dragging it through a candle or beeswax . This help to keep the stitches tight .

You are talking about a "slip" or a cutter case IIRC...

Out of fashion these day's but still works...Dude that does back room leather does them..

Glove end and a piece of paracord?? Now why didnt I think of that??

Good idea bro!

Great suggestion... I've kept my prize stockman on a leather pocket sheath for years, for the same reasons.
