A good traditional folder under $100?

I've typically been a more modern knife guy. Not tactical modern, usually, but modern. However, a couple weeks on Bladeforums has been enough to turn me towards the beauty of traditional folders.
Are there any good, fairly small (2 to 3 inch blade) folding, single bladed, hopefully locking traditional folders you would recommend for me? I like pocket clips, but I'm not too keen on the designs case has that incorporate them. I'd prefer under the $100 mark, if you can!

Take a look at the Case Mini Copperlock with a 2.75" blade. Plenty of handle material options available and it falls well within your price range.

GEC 72. It comes in clip, wharncliffe, or spear point. I had been eyeing one but never picked one up...

Another great option. The clip points are getting tougher to find but they do pop up on the exchange fairly often. I really like mine:

Of those two, which has less blade play when locked and is easier to open? I have trouble with some nail nicks, since I compulsively bite my nails and don't have any.

I'm pretty sure that the Case Copperlock as shown is easier to open. I have several of the mini Copperlocks and one large Copperlock. I don't have one of the GECs shown above to compare it to. I've got a couple of GECs with liner locks, but not real fond of the implementation on the knives. I like the knives themselves fine though.

I may spring for the copperlock, then. Anyone have a handle material option they recommend?

Your description fits my #55 Houndstooth perfectly... Single 2 5/8" speer blade w/Liner lock for $85'ish range. 3.5" closed length. This is by far my all-time favorite traidional and sees the huge majority of EDC time.

Its blade is a little longer than you specified at 3 1/8", but the #73 remains GEC's finest. Mine is a slipjoint, but there is a liner lock version available. Non-stag offerings come in well under your budget.

Go to the Case web site and view the different handle/scale offerings. Besides bone, which is offered in several colors/finishes, there is the Workman series which feature a dark blue synthetic jigged handle and satin blade, the XX white synthetic jigged handle, the Carhartt series, and mother of pearl handles. For me, the amber bone is my favorite.
