Sometimes you find the neatest deals in the strangest places.

Like alot of other folks my BOB is a daypack which contains all my "essentials". I like the convience and the utility of being able to throw it on my back to walk out of whatever situation I get into. I also take mine on day hikes (sans exterior weaponry) with the family. Today I was shopping at a "STAPLES" (chain similar to Office Max)near my home and in the "bargin bin" area where they discount stuff they have too much of or new models coming in I found a great deal on daypacks. The Extreme Access pack (normally priced at $19.95) was on sale for $4.60!! I bought all they had left (3) so that I can make up BOB's for all my family.

While it isn't a Kelty or a Lowe it is, as my friends across the big pond say, a "nice bit of kit".

If you are in the market for such an item don't overlook the office supply type of store.

Shoppers awareness is a wonderfull thing for us survivalists on a budget. I got my pocket watch in a pawn shop for $35.00. It's 13 jewel russian movement will keep running as long as it's wound, long after all the batteries on earth are run out if there's someone to tend to it.
Granted, it's not as accurate as a Quartz movement, but as it's a differrence of a seccond over a hundred years, I'll be long dead before it becomes significant.

Actually, without proper service and lubrication, your mechanical watch is unlikely to go "forever".

I lumped lube, and service in with "Tending." I know enough jeweling to keep it alive long after a battery dies of old age.

Where are you going to get the correct grade of fish oil to lubricate it? Or a source of those fine hi-tech Swiss lubricants - though those might mess up the Russian movement :-)
