The Spyderco UK Penknife. I don't feel like they get much love in the world of giant over built folders, not that I don't love and have many of them. But this little thing is great. In the econo version you can have A FRN handle which is really durable and gin-1 steel which is okay but works for everyday stuff and is super easy to touch up. Lots if color options on the handle and two different blade shapes. Or you can upgrade to the titanium handle with s30v. Made in the USA. Comes super sharp. Great jimping. Pocket clip is perfect, set up for left or right. Blade is centered with no side to side play. You never have to worry about lock rock or failure cause it doesn't have one and its your own fault if it closes when you are using it. Sometimes it's nice to appreciate the simple things.

there is a black frn drop point on my want-list.
love the blade shape, its almost like a mini stretch.
aren't these superlight, like around 2oz if i remember correctly?

Nice lines. I think they don't get much interest here because they were made to comply w/ UK's knife laws, meaning no lock, and most of those that don't care about locks seem to prefer the more traditional slipjoint route. I suppose with this you do get easy 1-hand opening.

I am curious if it sells well in the UK, is it filling the niche there for people that want a quality blade they can legally carry?

I really like the design, and I have no problem with the lack of a lock. I grew up long before the one-hand locking folder craze started, and I have some of those, too (along with traditional slipjoints). But the ergonomics of the UKPK are fantastic.

I almost always have a CF S30V version IWB.

They are a good knife, I own the old G10 S-30V UKPK. I wonder how many of the Pingo knifes spyderco actually manages to sell.

I see they're coming out with new flat-ground leaf and drop-points in black FRN for 2013.

Tempting, tempting. I hear the new slip backsprings are a bit stronger, too.

I really do like the knife but it reminds of how asinine the UK knife laws are.

The UKPK is one of my favorite knives. :D

Great ergos, variety of flavors, lightweight, easy carry, etc...

Yeah the UKPK is nice, but that one sucks. BD1 is pretty much a better steel in many aspects, first and foremost being called by Sal himself one of the best (it may have actually been the best) non-pm steels existing. Sal's word is gold, so I just do what he says without question.

I love my leaf UKPK and wouldn't trade it for the world... okay if you offered me the world or something worth more I would take that deal likely, they are mighty easy to replace.

I love mine, superb light weight, razor sharp pocket knife! It does sell very well here, many knife collectors have atleast one. Best jimping I've ever used with a well designed handle/blade shape to compliment safe and effective handling! I don't particularly like lock knives, so for me this is a near perfect slip joint folder! (I like traditional styles alot)
