For my 30th birthday I convinced my parents and brother to go in together on a TOPS Tracker for me. Hallelujah, they came through! Then my best friend ALSO bought me a TOPS Tracker. SURPRISE! So now, what should I do? Unfortunately the second one came from TOPS so he paid full retail for it. So here's the question - should I send the second one back to TOPS for a refund (if they even do it), get credit for it and swap it out with another TOPS (and which one(s)), put it up on eBay, or risk swapping it with somebody here on the forum? Looking for suggestions. Thanks!

That IS a quandry!! I don't know what to tell you!! I would keep them both; one as a user, and the other a safe queen.

Might not be a bad idea to use one to it's full capabilities and not think twice bout beatin the tar outta it, and keep the other lookin good. If you go for the exchange they probaly have at least one other knife that would interest you. Or, you could put one of em on e-bay, but you might end up feelin guilty, or havin to lie. -All depends on the givers.

I'd probably send one back and get a few different TOPs knives. You could probably get 2 or 3 for the price of the Tracker.

My Ma Ma always said that it was bad form to ever dishonor a gift. To sell or exchange either would be just that. Collector has it right in my book. Make sure that both parties know how delighted you are with their gifts and let it ride. For what it's worth that's what I'd do. Had none now have two beautiful knives, I'd say that you're a fortunate man.

Ebbtide - I like the way you think. However, for arguments sake let's say I have the full $300 retail value credit to shop with at TOPS. How would you guys spend it? I thought about getting two of the Tracker companion knives, one for me and one for my friend that bought me the original.

Whitedragon, I read your profile. "taking it off my hands" wouldn't involve some kind of combat would it? My wife will tell you that walking and chewing gum at the same time is a stretch for me.

I think that your freind would think that that was real cool. Nice idea

I don't have an answer for that, I'm not a blackticle knife kinda guy.
Not putting them down, just not my 'thang'.
Steven Dick designed the Pasatayen (sp?) and that looked like a knife I'd buy, but they are out of production.
