A green cigar box knife. Buy it or not?

I went through a local antique mall this weekend and of course looked at the knives there. One caught my eye. A Schrade green bone trapper new in it's cigar box. For less than $50. No I don't have any of the cigar box classics, though they are nice, they just don't ring my chimes. It was odd seeing this one beside the Pakastani knives and odd beaters though. I looked very briefly on eBay and didn't see any offered in green, current or ended auctions. And yeah, I forgot to take a picture. So what say ye? Are these desirable to own, enough to venture $38 and tax on? I've never seen one in the wild before.

Not sure, but might be the reproductions they did a few years back, I can't remember exactly but I paid something like $3-$5 on a cigar box whittler, I knew it was made in China, prior to purchase and felt for the price I paid it was worth it, not sure if the price tag on what you saw would be worth it, if it is the Taylor made variety.

Bone is nice, and nicely made, steel is 400 series my guess is 440A

It's put together well

Pete

No, the Cigar Box Classic I saw looks nothing like that. It is still there though.

Hi Codger, this is the 2003 Cigar Box Classics.
I have seen some made after 2004 - The box is not the same as these... Ken

I have never seen these Green Bone knives.

Note: The Schrade box says "Hand Made in the USA since 1904"
The other boxes say "Hand Made since 1904"
