I'd been meaning to try this out for a while but hesitated because the abrasive blasting needed for good adhesion wouldn't be something I could undo easily. So I finally decided to just go ahead and do it without blasting, despite the adhesion being compromised. I noticed a couple spots I missed the first go so I did a correction and rebaked it, I got it on too thick in some spots doing that and it's already flaked a bit off one of the safety bars. But it should tell me if it changes the razor glide in a good way or not, and if I liked the color (I've wanted a black DE since I saw the old DLC webers). I'll report on the glide later, but right now I can say I think I liked the nickel finish better than black on this one, I have some titanium gunkote I'll try later seeing as how the finish is already messed up on the safety bar before I do anything permanent to it.

You made it "tacti-cool." Now if only someone could make cammo shaving cream...

It actually does shave a bit better now, there's more friction with a good lather but it's also less sensitive to lather quality, and passes over areas that aren't re-lathered glide a bit better (no stick-slip). I'm still hesitant to sandblast it to get good coating adhesion, when it starts flaking off more on its own I'll probably give it a soda blast to remove the rest of the coating (the baking soda won't scratch or damage the nickel plate).
