With a few ideas, and his starting point. From there, it was a matter of taking an already great concept, and working in a component for his G-Code holster attachment.

I have moulded mounts directly to the sheath, but the heavy Hardcore Hardware hawk would just pry open the sheath from movement. He wanted a bit of a drop down, and that's what he got.

This is the only hawk that I have done, save for an exact duplicate for a Winkler Sayok, but in Tan. Would like to try a kydex retention gate on the next one.

I actually purchased a Cold Steel ax some months back and wanted a similar sheath, but I went a different way. The ax actually came with a protective sheath, more meant to keep it from cutting or stabbing anything when not in use than carrying. So I got a little creative and this is what I came up with. The original had three basic parts. A cover for the cutting blade, one for the spike, and two bars running between them attatched with screws that act as pivots. To remove the sheath, you have to first pull of the part covering the main blade. I found a way to use that action to make a carrying sheath with only a little modification. I simply added a stiff leather backing to provide some spring like support for the pivots so the individual parts don't move when the ax is drawn. After that, I added a belt loop and thigh strap to keep the ax at my hip when walking. I actually use a shoulder strap instead of a belt when wearing so it doesn't pull my pants down. A slight problem for anybody. The thigh strap keep the ax handle parallel to the thigh, so even when you crouch down, it doesn't get in the way.
Maybe you can come up with something better along similar lines?
