And Fallkniven hasta go an get SICK! Damn! A 3" one hand U-2 (with the lil lanyard hole) would be the knife that would end all the competition.

Ahhh, well.....dreams.....

I totally agree with you, Lavan. It seems like there is a collaboration among knife manufacturers to make knives with blades just slightly over 3", perhaps to send the unsuspecting Goyim into legal trouble. Of course, anyone suggesting that would simply wither away at the first mention of tin foil hats (such a clever defense!)

3-1/8 to 3-1/2 inch blades are the norm, I think, because that's the size that most people find useful. Especially if the blade is part serrated, which again is very popular. And in most places in the USA, those lengths are perfectly legal carry.

The real restrictiveness begins at 4"...so I wonder why so many mfgs are making 4" blades when they could be making 3-7/8 or 3-15/16, for example.

The thing is, a lot of knives (like the "mini" AFCK that Benchmade made) are just barely over 3" blade length, such as 3.125 or something, which adds basically no more useful blade length than a 3" blade would. And then the ones that do have blades right at 3" add this marginal fraction of length to the handle, just to get the overall length over 7", such as Benchmade's "redesigned" "mini" Stryker.

I've done probably a dozen or more of the U2 knives with pocket clips and thumb studs for forum members but my complaint is not with the blade. In fact the blade is just fine. I'd like to see that blade in a larger handle and to me that would be the end all everyday carry user providing it had the clip and thumb stud on it also.

In fact I may just have to find me a donar knife and remake the handle out of micarta to suit my thoughts on this and see how it goes. I've rebuilt one already for a forum member and the thought didn't occur to me to make the handle bigger at the time. Of course being that it wasn't mine to experiment with had something to do with that I'm sure.

Point well taken.

I think my intent got scrambled in the translation.

I think the PERFECT folder would be the U-2 in THREE inch ....instead of... the current 2 1/2". Even if it WASN'T one handed. One handed, it would shut down the production of almost every other ...pocket...sized competing model.

And...STR.... you have a GREAT point about the longer handle. A longer HANDLE would actually achieve ALMOST what a longer blade would. More to hang on to. A 3" blade would REQUIRE a longer handle.

But it beats the hell out of me why the manufacturers haven't skirted the stupid laws like Boston has and made their STANDARD knives ALSO available in 2 1/2" version just for those jurisdictions. I can guarantee that a 2 1/2" blade folded into a 4.5-4.75" ..HANDLE...would be just as "tactical" (read whatever you want into that) as the longer blade is.

Excuse the digression.

But the Fallkniven in a THREE INCH BLADE would be DYNAMITE!

:) :) :)

I'm with you on the handle length issue.

Being forced to carry a sub-3 inch blade is bad enough, but I see no reason that I must suffer with a handle that I can barely get 3 finger around.

That's one reason I found the Dodo so useful, a handle I can get me mitts around. Allows for good control when cutting.

As a further example, please notice that pairing knives have a 4-5 inch handle. It's all about control.
