A handy tool from Tony Bose

What do you mean nail nick? Is it to help you open up a knife? This is just me thinking aloud, but if you need a special tool to open a knife, said knife miiiiiight not be the right choice for you...

Was it intentionally double stamped?

I’ve never been able to use a nail nick successfully. However, many people use them. ‍♂️

Knife openers are an actual thing. Several companies have made them over the years. Some traditional knives rank 11 on a 10 point scale for spring strength. Springs that strong aren't acceptable to me, but I know some fellas like 'em that way.

Fascinating. Well learn something new every month! But a separate tool to open a knife would drive me nuts. I need a knife to be convenient and open quickly and easily.

Here's video of Tony using one -

.

You'd see them a lot in production / quality control settings in factories. I once saw video of an older lady who worked for either Camillus or Ka-Bar using one. She was fast, checking the fit and finish of dozens of multi blades an hour using it.

I have a couple in my drawer with my pocket knives. Handy when you are dealing with old stiff knives.

As stated more for bench work than for actual edc. But if one had weak nails or chewed them down to nubs, I guess you’d need one.

In this case it doesn’t need to be there, but it’s almost there by accident. How else would you finish the end of a choke wrench? It needs the extension, and you wouldn’t want sharp corners.

Does he stamp all his stuff like that?

Well in that scenario it definitely makes sense.
