What would it take to get our Kami's to produce a few of these for those of us who are inclined towards the golok:See example at:

Thanks Dan for showing the pic --the link doesn't work for some reason-- but I would jump on an HI golok like a chicken on a junebug and bigger would definitely be better.

A golok would be very interesting....but I wonder if they would go for one of that size. I think they would want to make the blade wider.

Wonder what kind of handle would be best?

I love the idea but I respectfully put forth that now would not be the best time to put it forward. Maybe we should wait a bit, there have already been some shakedowns going on in the regular line and it might be a good idea to let the kamis adjust before laying something new on them.

I think it would be great! I'd buy one! But I would like the blade to be as thick as a khukuri but maybe a little shorter than the model illustrated.

That is a Bark River product shown. I'm sure the Kamis could come up with something similar, but I agree that they should finish the Foxy Folly project successfully first.

I just got a BRKT Golok...it's an awesome tool!

I have to agree with Bob and others about this. The 17" Foxy Folly Special has been a mess.:o

Here's the specs on the BRKT Golok:

Blade Length: 11.375"
Overall Length: 17.375"
Blade Steel: 0170-6 High Carbon Steel
Blade Thickness: .215"
Hardness: 58RC
Pins: 304 Stainless Steel or Mosaic
Construction: Full Exposed Tang
Weight: 17.375 ounces
Sheath: Brown Leather

And it sounds like BRKT put a lot of thought into the design before making it.
The nice thing about a Golok is that it *is* nice and light.
Me Likey, a *Lot*, a whole Lot.:D
Like the Hasiya the need for a thick heavy blade just isn't always needed and a thinner and lighter knife is ideal.
Methinks if an HI Golok is ever done a model would be very much needed.;)

I put in a search on Google with BRKT Golok as the subject and got some really nice info.
Outdoor World has a nice review on it that I found under that subject.

The best price I could find was at (movie sword.com)

It's on the way--I'll post an appraisal when it arrives -Cost was $116 and change.

Nasty, what is the quality of the sheath like?

Kronckew, any links or direction to finding something similar? That is a beautiful blade.

thanks

Bamboo, try Valiant, they have site and offer a lot of this kind of stuff. I've heard good things about thier quality and usability too.

I can vouch for Valiant's Goloks and Mr. Suwandi. Beautiful and probably the highest quality Goloks found anywhere.

I do not recommend the Valiant Kukri's. The
Valiant Kukri is similar to the kuks that come from India.

Hi is to Kukris
as
Valiant is to Goloks

Anyone know what Valiant's website is? I googled them and all I got were reviews. Couldn't find a home page anywhere. I did find valiantarms.com, but no sign of goloks ...

mine's a valiant one, mr suwandi has been a real gentleman on my orders. also have a newly made kris & his damascus kopis, and probably will get a few more things from his inventory. his kukhs are not really kukhs, at best they are kukhri shaped objects. guess he leaves the real thing to the best, HI.

right click on the picture of my golok, pick properties from menu. has valiant's url in it - i've blown their horn enuff already (google on 'valiant golok' , they were 5th in the list for me) & a little hunting will be good for your soul.

I have a Valiant damascus kopis, and it is a stunner - far too pretty to use for chopping chickens or trimming brush, but sharp and light.

It's a very nice vegetable tanned pancake style sheath. I like it. When my camera returns from it's current vacation to Las Vegas, I will take some pics and post them.

http://www.valiantco.com/

I hope there is no rule against posting links here... For some reason no one seems to want to post the link...

But I see links all the time in other posts, so I went ahead and posted it...
It IS hard to find doing a search though...

This one is mine, by the way...

I have used them, excellent profile, nice steel, but the ones I had suffered from hardening problems as well as forging scallops left in the edge. It would be interesting to see the HI kami's take a shot at these blades, they would be similar to a slim kumar kobra.
