A holey question

I have studied numerous pictures of Busse knives.

There's one little nagging thought: what is the purpose of that litle hole near the hilt?

It's a registered trademark of Busse Knives. Since most of them are not marked "Busse" that is how you know you have the real thing.

:D:D

It was originally for the attachment of knuckle guards (both paracord and, IIRC, solid ones) IIRC.

Damn Eric, how much were you paid to memorize that line? :D

The holes, when properly used are part of the integral showcasing system. When placed onto two specially positioned pins/nails/pegs, it allows your Busses to adorn the walls of your war room rather than lay around in heaps, wrapped in blue microfiber polishing cloths:rolleyes:

 Coolest thing since bobby socks and plaid mini skirts:cool:

Golok,

Eric is on the numbers with this one. The front guard hole is a Registered Trademark of Busse Combat Knife Co. It often serves as our only mark on our blades.

Thanks,

Jerry

The hole also:

Enables the knife to be used as the top spindle support when starting a fire by the bow method. (Insert pointed top end of spindle in hole.)

Allows a balanced center point for attaching a line when you fall in an old shallow well while hunting and need to use the knife as an anchor to throw between boulders so you can climb out.

As a sighting hole when using your polished blade as an emergency reflector mirror. (I believe that I read this somewhere.)

As a fulcrum, as when you are hiking alone and a boulder falls on one of your arms and you have to use the other hand to amputate the arm.
You tie a shoelace to a fixed object and through the hole, which gives you increased leverage with the one hand.

I am pretty sure that the Busse patent application spelled all of this out.

Wait, I thought if you were hiking with a Busse and a boulder fell on your arm you would just hack the boulder to pieces. :D

Yeah, but what if you didn't want to scratch the coating?

I thought the little holey was because it was the official knife of the Vatican:D
