I was mistaken a while back when Raj sent this knife out to have a sheath
made, a promise I had made to him a long time ago as I don't take on fixed
blade sheaths but leave those for my good friends that enjoy making them
I stick to the folder realms when it comes to making sheaths any more.

But, in a thread that had Show Off Your Leather, I wrote that the knife was
made by Ron Newton and it certainly is insprired by Ron as Raj was at Ron's
shop and was under his tutelage during the process, now I don't know that
Raj will take up hammer and tong to continue making knives to order, I think it
was more the desire to create a knife and he dearly loves the knives that
Ron Newton makes, who wouldn't?? :)

So, to highlight and apologise for my error, here is that knife by Raj

Sorry Raj for not correcting this sooner! I edited my post in the previous leather
thread, it's a lovely knife and fine workmanship, perhaps we can get Raj to
chime in and provide some detail how this all came together?

and Merry Christmas to everyone!

That's pretty slick, this Raj guy might have some talent! I have a bunch of questions for Raj, but I'll take it to e-mail.

Beautiful knife and beautiful sheath... what's not to like about a mistake that causes you to share this with us.

How in the world did you stitch that welt????

thanks guys and Will, it was/is THICK, all hand stitched and a bugger to do
but worked out well and holds the knife secure, maybe later I'll post up some
images over in the leather forum on how this was put together.

Top shelf all the way!

(I'd like to see a 'how to' on that sheath as well ;) )

Merry Christmas to all.
Hi Gary nice pictures of the knife. Thanks for posting.
This post brings back memories.
This knife has more of Ron Newton than me in it. I had gone to Ron Newton's shop.He guided me through the process of knife making .I forged the blade and heat treated it under his expert guidance. It is of W2 steel.I had a wonderful and fascinating time, had never done anything like it before.
Then Newton put the Sambar stag carver handle on it along with the nickel silver guard. He put a wicked edge on the blade. This is my main hunting knife and has helped, gut ,skin and butcher a few antelope and mule deer.
The knife no longer had the edge that Newton had put on it and had long since lost his great hand rubbed finish when I sent it to "Gary the sheath whisperer" :).
I sent it to Gary Graley for this lovely and wonderful sheath.I will let Gary's post speak for this sheath as I can not do justice in describing this sheath.
Gary not only made the sheath, but went above and beyond that. On his own,Gary cleaned the blade and put back a wicked wicked edge on this knife.Gary is as particular about his knife edge as he is about his sheaths.Thank you very much Gary.
Gary is a wonderful man and those who have had any dealings with him can attest to this.Proud to call him my friend.
Who is this man Win Heger,he has asked me a zillion questions about this knife.May take me a few days just answering his questions :D:D:D.

That is a gorgeous piece!

Excellent pics too!Thanks for sharing:thumbup:
