I envision this knife to be carried by a hunter/trapper of the 1800's. It's 5/32" thick O1 with a 4 1/2" convex grind blade and a 4 1/2" handle with curly maple scales. This maple is special because it's from a maple tree a member of the Chesapeake Knife Club had in their yard, right here in Maryland.:) The pattern really stood out when I applied the first coat of tung oil, as you can see in the pic of the spine. This piece will be on my table at the Chesapeake Custom Knife show. Thanks for looking.

Nice knife, Scott. By the way, somewhere on my bench, is a full tang damascus hunter with a handle shaped EXACTLY like yours. One of these years, I'll have to finish it and show you. ;) :)

Nice work.... I favor the early-mid 1800's also . I participate in the mountain man rondys and make a few knives in the spirit of same. We just moved to reno and destroyed my digital camera in the process. Soon as its replaced, I will post a couple of pics.
