Hello all, I am a new member to this forum and enjoy reading on this site. I have a knife made for me perhaps ten to fifteen years ago by A J Hubbard. I read about him in one of the knife magazines at the time, making damascus blades of pressed, not twisted steel which he said would be fairly stain resistant. He called it a stainless damascus. At the time thought it would be nice to have him make a knife based on a Randall no. 1 with a blade about seven inches and a stacked leather handle. It looked like my Randall no.1 and has never been used. I forgot about it (and knives) for many years. I have googled him and searched the forums but nothing has come up yet. Can anyone tell me about A J Hubbard, his knives or the steel used? Many thanks.

Thank you Larrin. God bless him. I recall speaking to him by phone when ordering the knife and when I asked about terms of payment he told me not to pay him unless I liked the knife, and if not just send it back. After hearing that I felt compelled to order. I liked the knife and sheath. He sent a paper with explaining it was shim stock the method used and the steel but unfortunately I lost that. I am curious about the steels used and would appreciate any information regarding it and his knives.

I believe Mr. Hubbard called his pattern welded stainless steel "Precision Engineered Damascus". One of the knife magazines had a write up about it years ago, but I don't recall which magazine.
