A Jag with a latch gate...

I got tired of nicking the hell outta my blade so I decided to do something about it. I filed a little piece of aluminum down and inserted it so that the latch can still swing freely but it also stops a hair short of hitting the blade. It's just wedged in there at the moment, but I plan to secure it with J.B. Weld or something similar. What do you think?

It's crammed in there good and tight but I'm not gonna press my luck. I'll secure it with an epoxy of some kind. That should be plenty to keep it from flying away shouldn't it?

I would personaly use some clay Epoxy...you can get all sorts from Home Depot. Comes in a tube that looks like it could hold quarters, and its about $2.50

You can do a real nice job with that stuff...and it will stay forever...

e-utopia,

That's what I was/am still considering. I don't think I'd be able to drill a hole at that particular point in the handle but maybe I could cut a groove for it to fit into. Does anyone know what the handles on a Jag are made of? Is it easy to cut?

If the surfaces are smooth, then a couple of drops of ordinary Super Glue will work great. Just let it cure for a minute or two before stressing it. Also, gently heating the surfaces, perhaps with a hairdrier, will help get a strong bond.
