A Khukuri in the kitchen?

I recently purchased a 17” WWII Khuk (kami Sher) from the 10/01 Deal of the Day. I'd like to be able to say that this was a good deal, but I can't... This was an INCREDIBLE deal! The balance and feel of this knife is phenomenal!

I took my new purchase to my work kitchen (I own a small restaurant) to run my Edge Pro sharpening system over the edge a bit to give it a bit more bite.
I must say that I've never sharpened a knife this thick before (3/8") or with the curvature of the Khuk, but it took a new edge very easily and how! This knife is now extremely sharp and I was inspired to give it a test in the kitchen since it was there. Unconventional as a kitchen knife...Yes! Did it work well? Judge for yourself, I grabbed my camera and filmed it so that I could share it with you here.

Cheers!

That is, without a doubt, the coolest khukri (or any knife, for that matter) video I have ever seen.:thumbup:

You ought to post that over in the Knife testing forum as well so that more people might enjoy it.

Thanks, that made my day. :)

I watched the entire thing and you definitely have skill. :) VERY entertaining.

Where's your restaurant? That fish made my mouth water.

Fantastic video ! That is a very "real work" use of the khuk. I have used mine in the kitchen, but never such delicate work. You're very skilled:thumbup:

Thanks for sharing:D

Like they say, a video is worth 10,000 words. It's great to see one of Sher's blades in such skilled hands, thanks for the post!

BTW, that salmon made the khukri look small, and that's a 17 inch blade.

I mean 17 overall, I should know better...

i love to cook... if i didn't see it, i wouldn't have believed it.

incredible and thanks!!

I love it!
I love seeing big (huge) knives used for things that people say they can't be used for!

My smallest Kukri is an 18" WWII and it is quite nimble despite its size.

a filet knife as well. it truly is a can do everything blade. not just for the battlefield or bushcraft anymore.

thank you for sharing.

Thank you for a immensely enjoyable 6 minutes. I would love to see more videos of knives in your kitchen.

wow, amazing video!:thumbup: You made it look like you use 3/8" knives just about every day in your kitchen...and recurved ones at that:D

Superb technique, and obviously a very sharp khukuri:thumbup:. That's just a wonderful video - it ought to be made a sticky.

I agree, it's an amazing usage of a kukuri. I'll leave it stickied for awhile.
