Good story here. Hope Jerry doesn't mind that I share it.

Jerry writes;

This is a dagger of course. It is very plain. Damascus, Mother of Pearl, gold pins and a bit of carving to what is supposed to represent shells on the guard. Interesting knife. It is for a graduation gift for a girl child. That is what she wanted from her parents, one of my daggers. Her brother recieved a sword that I made upon his graduation. His sword is damascus, with Sting Ray skin handle and a sea shell carved on the ending of the guard. The kids mother has a damascus and Mother of Pearl handled folder that I made. So, I made the dagger with MOP and sea shells. Through the daughter I linked the family. All three pieces came from the Sea. The MOP and the carved sea shells and each damascus with different patterns in the blades on each of the pieces as well as the mountings are different on each piece. This is so that though they are linked together each has their own personality in the family.

I was fortunate enough to handle this sword and I didn't want to put it down.
The Dagger is NLT#3 '07

If anyone gets tird of me posting Jerry's knives just send me a PM telling me to knock it OFF  ;) :D

Kevin,

Always nice to hear stories like that, and see pics, too.

Each item is very appealing to my eye, and different from what Jerry normally does. I like that dagger very much, although Jerry is typically humble about his craft, daggers are deceptively difficult, and he pulls this one off with flair.

I would value each of these in my collection though, were that to be.

Best Regards,

STeven Garsson

There has been a sighting of the RARE Jerry Fisk folder!!!

Great work, of course. NLT grad gal? Nice.

Just wow! I saw the sword and Old Thorny at the Fisk Show last year and both are 100 x's better in person. The dagger looks super. You won't hear me complaining Kevin, you go dude!

Jerry's got that other damascus sword blade too that he has some special plans for. Looking forward to him finishing that one. I have to check that baby out each time at the shop. Super damascus pattern on that one too.

STeven, you should come down one Fall with us.

Great knives (sword). Everyone here knows I love Jerry though.

In 1992 a preacher man (I live next door) told me about a knifemaker in Lockesburg, Arkansas named Jerry Fisk.

In 1994 I called and ordered a stag handled folder....Jerry gave me a price of 300.00 dollars. YES, 300.00 DOLLARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He told me there was a two year wait.....

In December 1996, Jerry called me to tell me he was starting on my knife...I told him that I needed to wait that I was buying a house.

He said, "NO PROBLEM, if you would like I will call you back in a year and see how things are for you." I agreed!

December 1997 , I had two friends brutally murdered...I was in a depression...Jerry called, "Hello Darby, this is Jerry Fisk. Would you like for me to start on your knife now? I can call back in another year if it's better for you."

NO, NO, please go ahead, I had forgotten all about it....what will be the price?" Jerry replies, " What did we agree on, wouldn't it 300.00?" I said yes , but that was 3 years ago... he replies, " a deal is a deal. 300.00 it is."

When I picked it up I was amazed at the details of my Fisk folder.....(NO IT'S NOT FOR SALE...EVERRRRRRRRRRRR. My first custom knife. I did already own a Bill Bagwell hunter though......I still have))

I took a bone handle pocketknife home to my cousion and told him to give me 350.00 dollars for a pocket knife....it was hard to get it out of him ...BUT I DID!!!!!!!!!! (jerry had went up 50.00 dollars) Dink later (4 years) sold the knife for 900.00.

Well anyway, in 1998 I spent $14,000 dollars on knives, (alot of money for me and I guess you could say I was HOOK$ED!!!!!!!!!!!

That's the same year I called Vince Evans (LUCKY....GOD!!!!!!!!) after seeing A Yatagahn in the Blade Magazine. (I love him and Grace too!)

As, most of you know....WE had a 3 month old son (ATTICUS JUDE NEAVES) die on November 29th. (GOD is GRACIOUS to us by...too much) (COOL name by the way!) WELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL, when I called Jerry to tell him the news of Atticus' arrivial, August 22nd, Jerry informed me that he had started on the damascus for my knife, the same day.

To say the least....that piece of damascus means so much to me today....the knife is finished and Jerry, (OWNNNNNNNNNNNNNN HISSSSSSSSSSSSS OWNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN) did a "Lone Star" gold enlayed star in the pommel! (remember, I love JERRY!) (and he likes me! LOL.)

The knife has been photographed by Chuck Ward and I will send Roger Pinnock the pics to post for me when I recieve them. (YESSSSSit is an NLT and no it's not for... you know:rolleyes: )

Not to take away forom this thread...I did want to share this with you though... as Jerry so many times goes above and beyond...because he wants to.

thanks for listening,

darby

Thanks Kevin - dagger and sword are phenomenal!

Thanks for sharing Darby - I'll be happy to post up the pics when you get them. Keep well my friend.

Darby, you did not take away at all, but added greatly.

Will you be at the Blade Show? Like to meet you in person.

Thank you Roger!

Kevin, you have met me indirectly... at the Arkansas museum. The Fisk Arkansas camp knife that you saw when you were there is mine.:)

BUT! I have met you also at Jerry's show....year before last. I catered Jerry's show last year (by the way how was the dar-be-que?) but was not able to attend.

I look forward to meeting you again this year at Jerry's show but unfortunatley I'll be missing Atlanta.

regards

Oh yes. I do remember meeting you. I just hadn't associated you by name with this forum as I was meeting everyone there except Jerry and Bob Neil for the first time. Sorry I'm terrible with names.
We were admiring that beautiful pearl handle, engraved Sendero Bob brought with him. And yes I remember we spoke about your camp knife at the museum. The dar-be-que was outstanding last year and us virginians know and love our barbeque.
Can't wait for the gathering this year. See ya there.

Wow! Stunning knives from the master. So, how does one go about getting adopted into that family? Today is my birthday... I'd be happy to wait a little for a special Fiskian B-day present!;) :D
