Of my 30+ knives (32 by my count right now, but I might have missed some), I really only ever carry about 10, and that's stretching it.

1. TnT - office and in sweats (lightweight and non-threating)
2. Cobra - office sometimes, and/or out-on-the-town
3. Boa - weekends, evenings
4. Boguszewski Wegner - alternate for weekends, evenings
5. Mouse - dressed up, gents folder
6. Patton 5" fixed blade - day-trips to the mountains
7. TTKK - camping, but not actively hunting
8. Colorado Cutlery CO-1 - hunting
9. Irie "green river" skinner - skinning
10. Seaqest dive knife - diving

That's it! The rest are umpteen-level-back backups, or just plain never going to be used. I guess I do leave either my Case Russlock or A.G. Russell one-hand in my junk drawer, for opening mail, but don't actually every CARRY them.

"A knife for every possible use" ?? Really quite a challange to define as your list of
knives shows. As we all know there is no such knife. For everyday do it all utlity use
there are only two that come to mind just now .....The three blade stockman & the SAK.
These two types have served more people to do more jobs than all other types of knives
combined. They are so common they define utlity itself.

I tend to think of "mission orientation" not because I've ever been in the military (tho I've got to admire those guys), but because it fits how I've collected knives over the last 5 years. Nothing wrong with a little over-lap either, though in the last year its gotten to be a little much for me too.

The other problem is that I've bought some of my current collection with mission parameters in mind that just aren't realistic for me any more. I don't go on those missions!

Yeah, I gave away my "lake use" customized EDC and will probably eliminate my Buck Crosslock River Rafter. I don't expect to use them any time soon.
