My brother in law recently brought it to my attention that my mom was in constant need of a knife at work and so came to me so that I could get her something useful. This instantly excited me, a knife for my mom? Hell yeah! So I ask all the ins-n-outs as far as what her needs are, size, what she's cutting i.e. different kinds of boxes, zip ties **I know, I know...zip ties will get cha (the edge)** etc. Etc.
I automatically thought, Spyderco Delica 4....TEAL Spyderco Blade HQ exclusive. Little background, my mom is the handler/mixer infuser & manager at a caviar company. Very humble woman, super hard worker, awesome mom. But has to struggle fumbling around for a kitchen and or pairing knife while at work. She needed something she could clip to her robe and always have handy. A fixed blade made a lot of sense but it had to be very thin, and clipable/uncombersome on a robe.
Finally got this sucker in today and man is it nice. Here's some pics.
So I went to drop it off and it was a fun experience taking the 10-15 seconds showing her how to open and close the knife. She's never owned much less played with folders, tons of kitchen knives sure but aside from seeing my folders, that was her extent with them.
She liked it right away and after getting familiarized with it says, "I hope you aren't trying to put it back in the box, I'm taking this to work and cutting things up TOmorrow.... If not then at least to cut the boss when she gets pissy" ( she was laughing/ joking)
All in all, a nice and fun way to share my hobby with one of the special ladies in my life and wanted to share with other knife nuts seeing as to how mother's day just passed. Cheers!
