I recently purchased a used rifle off an online auction site with the idea to take up deer hunting again next hunting season. During my online search my wife decided that she to would like to take up deer hunting again and wanted to bid on and buy a rifle of her own. After a couple weeks of shopping and checking our watch lists we both had commited to buy rifles of our choosing.
Not long after the second auction ended my wife mentioned that she wondered what ever happend to her old hunting knife and that she sure would like to have it back as it was the perfect hunting knife. She has not hunted in years, since before i met her and i never saw the missing knife and she had no idea who made it.
I told her not to worry, i had several and that she could have her pick. I layed them out for her, a fingergrooved 112 and 110, a new in box 110 with oak scales and carbon steel blade, my beloved 102 Woodsman as well as a couple of old Western fixed blades.
She picked each one up and looked them over then looked at me and i could tell by the look on her face that we had not yet found the one for her.
She then proceded th tell me what a hunting knife should be and not be. How it should look and feel. She pretty much described the Vanguard to a tee or so i thought. I showed her a picture of the pretty one, the one with the wooden handle, i thought she would like the looks of it. But no, she told me right away that the handle would get way to slck and that would never do. So i showed her the one with the rubber handle and she seemed pretty happy with it until she came across a picture of a large Bucklite Max with an orange handle. That was it she said, that was the perfect hunting knife.
She ordered herself one and it arrived today.

The look on her face was fun to see when she took it out of the box. She is totally satisfied with it in every way and i have to say that she did make a good choice. Hopefully we will be able to put it to work this year and put a little meat in the freezer.

Grateful, you should be grateful (did I really do that??) that you have an experienced huntress for a wife - you'll be having to keep up with her - nice knife and good luck to the both of you in your hunting quest. OH
Ps I agree - excellent choice in a hunting knife.

Very nice knife she chose there. Good luck on your future hunts. May you both get your deer(s).

Your wife is pretty smart when it comes to hunting knives. A slick handle can quickly turn into a trip to the hospital. Pretty doesn't cut it for a hunting knife, practicality does.
