I've finished Pharmboy's knife, and I'm really happy with the results. He got an Osage Orange handled Recluse. I've got to make him a sheath for it now. Its got natural canvas micarta liner, pins and bullseye filler that really set it off! The spalting on this blade is the most beautiful I've seen.

Looks like the osage is hot for you, too Andy. I love that stuff. It's such an undervalued handle material imo. Hard, beautiful color and ages wonderfully.

And American also. That seals it for me.

Beautiful knife Andy, that spalting looks great as do the grain lines in that O.O. . I really do love the wooden handles you produce, but with the high humidity here, all the rain, the river and creeks, the drastic changes in temperature from morning to afternoon some months, and how much I sweat when I'm out... coupled with how much I use my knives...I really just don't think any wood is a safe one for me.

I think wood would suprise you. Its been a standard handle material since chert was the #1 blade material. Its easy to maintain and repair. You're in Tenessee? Thats the same climate I've grown in, and the wood is acclimated to also.

The problem is that all of my wooden handled yard tools that spend time out in the elements with me only last a few years before the moisture and temp changes cause them to swell and shrink so much the effects start showing badly...and I don't use them near as much as i use a knife. I have to keep my cameras in water proof cases because just because it starts raining doesn't mean I'm going home :D

Btt..........................

These recluse knives are awsome looking. I keep eyeing one of the production ones. Every since I seen the first examples I told myself I didnt need another knife in this size range. But man these things are calling me.

Hey Andy,

I just got your PM's...Man, Wow!....Can't wait!!!....I tried to call tonight 9:28pm...got your voice mail....Just PM me the payment info.....Thanks!!!

Cool! Glad to see you and hear you like it! I've never had prettier spalting on my 01 IMO. Neato!

I just got this baby in my hands today and it is better than anyone could imagine!! Guys, go ahead and put a Recluse at the top of your must-have or next-purchase list. Also, as a super-special treat, I have the privilege of owning a Fiddleback clip sheath! Hey, this guy not only makes great knives, he also makes one helluva sheath(fellas, eat your hearts out)!!!...I will try to start a new thread this week or next with some more pics--maybe some in-action and comparison shots of this one and the Bark River version. Whichever one you choose, you really can't go wrong. Andy Roy is truly a stand-up guy and will really treat you right!

I'm very glad to hear that you're happy Kenny! It was nice to speak with you the other day. Go cut with that tool, and let me know how she performs.
